Shaun Michael Hopkins

Shaun Michael Hopkins, 61, of Westminster, Maryland, passed away surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Shaun was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on April 9, 1965, to Bernard Michael Hopkins and Sondra Michael (Harrington) Hopkins. 

He graduated from Queen Anne’s County High School in 1983 and went on to proudly graduate from the University of Notre Dame in 1987. Following college, Shaun began his career with State Farm in 1987 and became a State Farm agent in 1990. Over the next 36 years, he took great pride not only in his work, but also in the relationships he built with his clients and within his community. He was especially grateful for his longtime team—Crissy Sedlar, Kim Barthlow, and Annette Kelly—whose dedication, friendship, and support meant a great deal to him. 

Shaun was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard Michael Hopkins and Sondra Michael (Harrington) Hopkins. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gillian; his children, Reagan and Finnegan; his sister, Colleen Hopkins; his brother, Ryan Hopkins, and sister-in-law, Sue Hopkins; his nieces and nephews, Riley Hopkins Boria, Quinn Hopkins, and Caitlin Pickett; his aunt and uncle, Martha and Jim Hopkins; as well as numerous cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. Above all, Shaun loved his family and friends. His greatest joy was his family, and he treasured watching Reagan and Finnegan grow. 

His Catholic faith was important to him, and he was especially proud to see that faith become part of their lives as well. Shaun was a lifelong and devoted Notre Dame fan and was always ready to cheer on the Fighting Irish with a proud “Go Irish!” His loyalty extended to his hometown teams as well, especially the Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles. Whether cheering for his favorite teams, spending time at home with his family, or enjoying the company of friends, Shaun found great happiness in being surrounded by the people and traditions he loved. 

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart of Glyndon Parish on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:30 a.m., immediately preceding the Mass. A private interment for immediate family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made toward Reagan and Finnegan’s education or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Shaun will be remembered for his love of family, his loyalty to friends, his generosity, and his larger-than-life personality. He had a genuine love for people and a warmth that drew others to him. His family takes comfort in knowing that the love he gave so freely will continue through his children, his family, his friends, and the many lives he touched.
