Shirley Jeanette Evans Thomas

Shirley Jeanette Evans Thomas, 78, of Severn, Maryland passed away Friday, August 14, 2026 at Lorien Assisted Living in Taneytown, Maryland. Born November 12, 1947, in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Emil Franklin Evans and Margaret Mollie Thornberry Evans.

Shirley was one of eight children and enjoyed spending time with her family. She had a love for the arts. She performed in plays in the Baltimore area. She also loved dancing and was a graduate of Sykesville High School, class of 1965.

Shirley is survived by her son, James Matthew Thomas of New Market, Virginia; siblings, Emil Cornett Evans, Sr. of Sykesville, Maryland, Delores Mae Evans Franklin of Green Valley, Arizona, Geneva Evans Hamm of Taneytown, Maryland, Deborah Lynn Evans of Mt. Airy, Maryland, and Denise Carol Evans Dennis of Orlando, Florida. Shirley was predeceased by her daughter, Virginia Mae Thomas Klosterman; siblings, Ronald Lee Evans and Margaret Marcell Evans.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 21, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, P.A., 136 E. Baltimore Street (21787). A Funeral Service will being at 12:00 pm. with Rev. David Meador officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park in Sykesville, Maryland.
