Ronald Leroy “Sonny” Dayhoff, 63, of Taneytown, MD, died Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Gettysburg Hospital in Gettysburg, PA. Born October 23, 1952 in Uniontown, MD, he was the son of the late Dorothy Dayhoff Johnson. He was the devoted companion of Carol Lookingbill for 35 years.
Sonny was a Grounds Foreman at McDaniel College, formerly Western Maryland College, for 43 years. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, gardening, and going to yard sales.
Surviving in addition to his companion, Carol, are daughters, Amanda Calhoun and husband Jason of Westminster, and Peggy Hensley and husband Mike of Hanover, PA; son, Jason Dayhoff and wife Randi of Gettysburg, PA; sister, Debbie Polozeck and husband John of TX; granddaughter, Devinn Calhoun; and many step-nieces and nephews. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his step-father, Robert Johnson.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2016 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD, with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating. Burial will be private at a later date. The family will receive friends 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
