Steven Christopher Cheatwood

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Steve Cheatwood, age 56, of Taneytown, MD, on Easter Sunday Morning, April 5, 2026. A beloved son, father, and a friend to many, Steve was best known for his deep faith in the Lord. He was a beacon of light and hope for many and loved all people. Steve was a fun and loving jokester and could always make his family laugh.

Steve was born on November 23, 1969, in Alexandria, VA to Don and Karen Cheatwood. He grew up mostly in Frederick County, Maryland and graduated from Linganore High School. After graduation he went on to Electrical Journeyman’s School in Hagerstown, MD.

Steve is survived by his two children, Christopher Lee and Emily Nicole Cheatwood (Jake), two sisters, Sherri Kidwiler (Ron) and Sandra Gilliece. He was known as “Fun Uncle Steve” to his nieces and nephews, Amanda Wooten, Ryan Kidwiler (Sarah) and Curtis Gilliece, also great-uncle to Connor and Austin Wooten and Oliver Kidwiler. Also survived by Cyndi Cheatwood. He was pre-deceased by brother-in-law Gregg Gilliece.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday April 16, 2026, at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore Street, Taneytown, MD. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made in Steve’s name to Grace Bible Church of North Carroll, 3250 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102.
