Suzanne K Harris, née Kraft, age 81 of Fairfield, PA, passed away peacefully at her home on April 14, 2026. Born on March 13, 1945, in Baltimore, MD. She was the daughter of the late John and Helen Kraft.
Suzanne’s life was marked by unwavering commitment to her family, community, and the many children she served throughout her career.
Suzanne devoted much of her professional life to managing cafeterias at three schools within the Howard County school district. She was widely respected not only for her managerial expertise but also for her compassion and generosity. Suzanne was known for quietly covering the cost of lunches for children who faced financial hardships, ensuring no child went hungry under her watch. Her empathy and kindness left an indelible impression on countless families.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Suzanne's greatest joy came from her family. She and her husband, Edward Joseph Harris, enjoyed 61 years of marriage after their wedding on July 2, 1964. Suzanne’s steadfast support extended to attending every sports game of her grandchildren and great-grandson, enthusiastically cheering them on with boundless pride. Known for her warm and vibrant personality, Suzanne had passions that reflected her joyful spirit. She loved to cook and delighted in sharing her culinary skills with those around her. Chocolate, the color purple, butterflies, and Maryland crabs were some of the simple pleasures that brought her happiness. A devoted fan of Elvis Presley, Suzanne's enthusiasm for “The King” was well known among family and friends.
She is survived by her husband Edward Joseph Harris, daughter Lori Edwards, son Edward J. Harris Jr. and his wife Lori, and sister, Kay Scherr; her beloved grandchildren, Sarah VanMetre and her husband Tyler, Fred Allen Clift, Elliot Harris, Oliver Harris, and great-grandson Liam VanMetre.
Suzanne was predeceased by her brother John Kraft.
Her passing marks the loss of a truly supportive and loving presence—one whose influence stretched far beyond the kitchen and the family home into the broader community she so selflessly served. Suzanne K Harris’s legacy will be remembered for her kindness, her dedication to nurturing both family and community, and the unwavering love she gave to all who knew her.
