Thelma Louise Carr, age 92 of Westminster, MD, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family. Born on March 4, 1934, in Uniontown, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Jessie Franklin Baker and Marie Geneva Baker, nee Houck. Thelma was the devoted wife of Harvey Scott Carr for 73 years.
Thelma was a proud graduate of Westminster High School, she built a remarkable career as a clerk, serving faithfully for more than forty years. Her professional life was marked not only by her reliability and unmatched work ethic but also by the grace and warmth she extended to everyone she met. She was a long-time devoted member of Zion United Methodist Church in Shipley, MD.
Surviving are sister; Edna Stephan, brothers; Raymond Baker, and David Baker, along with many nieces and nephews.
Thelma was predeceased by brother; Franklin, sister; Anna Ebaugh, brothers-in-law George Stephan, Bill Ebaugh, Jessie Carr, Levine Carr, Paul Lenker, and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Carr, Pauline Carr Lenker, Ruth Carr Hahn, and Helen Carr. They remain forever a part of the tapestry of her life story, remembered fondly and with reverence.
The family will receive friends Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 2 to 4:00 p.m. and 6 to 8:00 p.m. at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St. Westminster, 21157. A funeral service will be held Friday, April 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Josh Gillen officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 2800 Old Westminster Pike, Finksburg, MD.
Thelma’s wishes were that guests be in casual attire. Donations can be made in Thelma’s name to Zion United Methodist Church, 2716 Old Washington Rd, Westminster, MD 21157
