William “Bill” Frederick Kolpack Jr., 92, of Taneytown, MD, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Kline Hospice House, Mount Airy. Born December 18, 1930 in Carroll County, MD, he was the son of the late William Frederick Kolpack Sr., and Treva Louise Haines. He was the devoted husband of 65 years to Virginia Lee Kolpack, nee Lawrence.
Bill was a veteran of the United States Marines, serving in the Korean War. He worked at Taneytown Rubber Plant, later going to and retiring from Lehigh Portland Cement Company. He was a life member of the New Windsor Fire Department, Taneytown American Legion Hesson-Snyder Post 120 inc., and V.F.W. Post 8806 – Union Bridge.
Surviving in addition to his wife Virginia, are Bill’s daughters, Lisa Socks of Waynesboro, PA, and Vickie Trout and husband Douglas of Taneytown; grandchildren, Doug Jr, Jacob, and William Trout, and Steven Socks; and great grandchildren, Hudson, Riley, and Westen Trout. Bill was predeceased by his sister, Betty Couch.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, P.A., 136 E Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD, with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 9th at the funeral home, with a service by the American Legion and V.F.W. at 7 p.m.
