Adelaide Siegman Sies

Adelaide Siegman Sies, age 87, of Westminster, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Bethania Home Care in Westminster.

Born in Westminster, MD she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Ruth (Shaeffer) Siegman.  She was the wife of the late Charles E. Sies, Jr. who died in 1998.

Adelaide was a graduate of Manchester High School.  She was retired after working many years with Random House.  She loved baking, crocheting, and canning foods.  She was always very generous giving of her time and talents to family and friends.  She loved purple and lavender colors, and always had food and goodies available for her guests and visitors.  She was a life-long and active member of St. John’s (Leister’s) Lutheran Church where she taught Bible School, Sunday School, was a member of WELCA and Christian Singles, helped with strawberry and peach festivals, and other church fellowship socials.  

Surviving are children, Rebecca Sisler and husband Bill of Westminster, Neil Sies and wife Terri of Litiz, PA, Deborah Schaefer and husband Michael of Westminster, and Richard Sies of Westminster; grandchildren, Katie Sies and husband Jon Miles, Jennifer Giambalvo and husband Zach, Jacob Sisler and fiancée Erin Benson, Pamala Sisler, Hannah Sisler and husband Clint Campbell, Julia Wolfe and husband Adam, and Laura Schaefer; great-grandchildren, Isabell, Amelia, Jane, and another great-granddaughter on the way; sisters, Betty Hoff of Westminster and Arlene Bakner of Richardson, TX; brother, Kenneth Siegman of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by siblings, Grace Bushman, Mary Byer, George, John, and Harry Siegman.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018 at St. John’s (Leister’s) Lutheran Church, 827 Leister’s Church Rd., Westminster with her Pastor the Rev. Kristin Dubsky officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. John’s (Leister’s) Lutheran Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 6th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St., Westminster and on Monday, May 7th from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
