Francis Charles Topper

Francis C. Topper, 81, of Emmitsburg, Maryland, entered into God’s eternal care on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at home.

Born on June 29, 1939 in Emmitsburg, MD, he was the son of the late Carroll C. and Gladys (Kelly) Topper.  He was predeceased by his wife, Edna Topper.

Francis was a member of the Cool Branch Baptist Church in Treadway, TN.  He served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1955-59.  He loved painting and restoring cars.

Francis is survived by his five children, Francis Topper, Jr. of Fairfield, PA, Karen McDannell of Emmitsburg, Susan Swartz of Gettysburg, Ronald Topper of Sharpsburg and Darian Topper of West Virginia; step-daughter, Tina Benesch of Littlestown, PA; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Topper of Gettysburg, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Francis was predeceased by brothers, Wilbur Topper and Tom Topper; and by sisters, Judy Ott and Linda Kreitz; and step-son, Dana Brockman.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic a memorial service will be held at a later date.  Burial and graveside services will be held in Tennessee at a later date.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Emmitsburg, MD.
