Geoffrey Roger Zurgable

          Geoffrey Roger Zurgable, 73, of McHenry, Maryland, formerly of Emmitsburg, Maryland died peacefully on Monday, December 21, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Ministries in Emmitsburg.

          Born May 21, 1947 in Gettysburg, PA, he was the son of the late Roger and Irene Zurgable.

          Geoffrey graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1964 and Mount St. Mary’s College in 1968.  He was a veteran of the Maryland National Guard serving his country for 6 years.  He worked for several years in the family business Zurgable’s Hardware of Emmitsburg, and later moved to Oakland where he worked at various odd jobs until his retirement.  He was a charter member of the Emmitsburg Lions Club, member of the Deep Creek Lake Lions Club, and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Emmitsburg.  He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing in his younger days. 

          Surviving are his brothers, Mark Zurgable of Emmitsburg, Greg Zurgable and wife Lydia of Fairfield, PA; and many close friends.

          Due to COVID-19 pandemic a public Memorial Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Emmitsburg will be announced in the Spring of 2021.  Private inurnment will be at New St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Emmitsburg.

          Arrangements have been entrusted to the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Emmitsburg.

          In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Geoff’s name to the Emmitsburg Lions Club, PO Box 1182, Emmitsburg, MD 21727.
