Obituary

Herbert Patrick Morris, fondly known as Herb, 64 of Westminster, Maryland, passed away suddenly on August 17th, 2023. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was born November 14th, 1958, to the late Mary Ellen Morris (Cavey) and David Herbert Morris.

Herb worked as a mason with Mar-Ja LTD. of Upperco, MD for many years. Later, Herb worked for Richards Masonry of Westminster, MD up until his passing.

He was a talented athlete and coach. He enjoyed many sports including softball, bowling, and football. He never lost his competitive spirit and continued to engage in many games such as cornhole and spades in his later years. Herb was a fan of Baltimore, MD sports, specifically the Orioles and the Ravens. He rarely sat down except to watch a game and drink a Natty Light. Everyone that knew Herb admired his hardworking and caretaking nature. There was never a time that he was not looking after his family and friends. He was always there for those in need and prepared to lend a hand to anyone who may ask.

Herb had a soft spot for all his dogs throughout his life, always showing love to any that crossed his path. Herb had a sarcastic sense of humor and was incredibly thrifty. He understood the value of a dollar and went to great lengths to save money through couponing, yard sales, various side jobs, and much more.

Herb was an incredibly intelligent and curious man. There were few subjects that he did not have knowledge or an opinion about. His many endearing quirks will not be soon forgotten.

Herb is survived by wife Tammy and daughter Taylor of Westminster MD, sisters Jackie Flint and Sandy Branch along with husband Tom of Manchester MD. Nephew Herb Flint, wife Carrie and daughters Novalee and Jocelyn, niece Alyssa Stull and sons Kingston and Kain. Mother and Father-in-law Joy and Jack Lawrence. Brothers-in-law Shawn Richards and wife Kelly, Daryn Richards and Lisa Thurston as well as sister-in-law Deidra. Herb is survived by many nieces and nephews including Tyler Richards and family, Jimmy Richards, Megan and Tom Halleran, Bryson, Haili, and Shianne Magruder and many cousins. He will be deeply missed by all.

Viewing services will be held at Myers-Durboraw funeral home 91 Willis St. Westminster MD on Thursday, August 24th from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm. Family and friends will also be welcome to view 1 hour before the funeral service on Friday the 25th at 11am. All are welcome to come celebrate the life of Herb.

Should you feel inclined, you are welcome to contribute to the Humane Society of Carroll County MD in Herb’s memory to honor his love of dogs. https://hscarroll.org/donate/
