Jack Eyler Obituary

Jack Eyler, 89, of Emmitsburg, died on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at his home.  Born January 25, 1931 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Newton Edward and Alice Gladys (Stoner) Eiler.

Jack was self-employed, providing commercial custodial services to area businesses.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1948 through 1952, and was a member of AMVETS Post 7 in Thurmont.  He enjoyed working jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and feeding the squirrels.  Jack was an avid reader, and he loved watching baseball.  His mind remained sharp right up to the end of his days.

Surviving are 3 of his sisters, Mary Ellen Miller of Thurmont, Alice Delores Kolb of Cocoa, FL, and Margaret E. Sweeney of Thurmont; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by sister, Shirley Temple Jewell; and all 3 of his brothers, Harvey, William, and Harry Bert Eiler.    

A graveside service and burial will be held at 10 a.m on Monday, October 5, 2020 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 515 S. Market St., Frederick, MD with Pastor Rob Merki officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Emmitsburg. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN  38101, or to The Wounded Warrior  Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
