John Boblitz Obituary

On February 6th, 2024 John Carl Boblitz passed away peacefully at his home in Westminster, MD. He was born June 11th, 1935 to the late August Frederick Boblitz and Emma Cecelia Boblitz (Swansen). John was married to his wife of 42 years, Margaret Helen Boblitz.

John graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1953 and went on to work at Gibson Island Country Club as their bookkeeper. He was also in the Army National Guard from 1958-1964. First, he joined brokerage firms Stein Brothers and Boyce. Next, C.T. Williams & Sons as an office manager from 1970-1979 when they merged with Legg Mason & Company. John became their Vice President and stayed there until he retired in 1999.

He has many survivors: his sons John Carl Boblitz, Jr., and Charles Frederick Boblitz and his stepson Daniel Zanti Strine; grandchildren Marleen Kohl, Lukas Boblitz, Joshua Boblitz, Zachary Boblitz, Reaghan Strine, Emerson Strine, and Jackson Strine; nephews Henry Appleton and the late August Boblitz; niece Stephanie Boblitz Lotta; siblings the late August Frederick Boblitz, Jr. and the late Mary Elizabeth Boblitz Appleton.

John had a long list of hobbies and interests: travelling. He also enjoyed many annual trips to Fenwick Island and Ocean City, MD, golfing, camping, canoeing, sailing, cooking, woodworking, tennis, and completing many DIY projects at home. He was a Boy Scout leader, Indian Guide team leader, member of the Glen Burnie JCs, Volunteer Fireman with the Lake Shore Volunteer Fire Department, President of the Country Club Recreation Association, a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Catonsville serving as an usher and President of the Congregation, and a member of First Lutheran Church in Ellicott City serving as an usher, Eucharistic Minister, Chair of Finance Committee, and a participant in the Christmas Basket program.
