Kenneth Ralph Cool

Kenneth Ralph Cool, 69, of Emmitsburg, MD, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Ministries surrounded by his loving family.

Born Wednesday, October 27, 1948 in Frederick, MD, he was the son of the late Joseph Peter and Ethel Grace (Harbaugh) Cool. 

He was a graduate of Emmitsburg High School in 1966, and was known as “Cool-Aid” in school.  He worked at St. Joseph’s Provincial House for many years in the housekeeping department then transferred to the laundry department until his early retirement due to failing health.  He enjoyed playing softball, horseshoes, cards, hunting, fishing, hunting mushroom’s (he loved his mushroom’s), picking red raspberries, and spending time with his friends and family.  He was a devoted loving husband and father.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda M. (Rexroth) Cool; a son “Ken” Kenneth L. Cool  and wife Chelsea and a grandson Chase L. Cool of Thurmont, MD; sisters, Betty Stopcik of Gettysburg, Doris Dinterman and Linda Clabaugh both of Thurmont, Barbara Dinterman of Emmitsburg; brother, Leroy Cool of Emmitsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by daughter, Jody L. Wastler; brother, Richard D. Cool; sister, Anna M. Kwarta; niece, Laurie A. Dinterman and nephew, John E. Kwarta.

He had a niece Lisa M. Connolly and her four sons he thought the world of Mike, Bob, Brian and Tim.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD with John C. Morrill funeral celebrant officiating.  Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Cemetery in Thurmont.  The family will receive friends on Monday, March 5th from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
