Laura Lynn (Nelson) Craney

Laura Lynn Nelson, of Taneytown, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at the age of 48. She was born at Carroll County Hospital in Westminster, MD on October 26,1972. She was the daughter of David Nelson of Union Bridge and the late Betty Nelson of Union Bridge. Laura was predeceased by her husband, Destry Gastgeb, of Taneytown.

Surviving in addition to her father David Nelson and his wife, Mary Nelson of Union Bridge, are her brother, Kenneth Nelson and wife Stacey of Keymar. Also remembering Laura are her children, Zachary Howard of Taneytown, Megan Gastgeb of Taneytown, Brittanee Myers and husband Casey of South Carolina, Brandon Gastgeb of Hagerstown, Kaeley Craney and Riley Craney of Delaware. Surviving in addition to her children are nieces Taylor Nelson of Keymar, Autumn Pefley and husband Caleb of Taneytown, and their 1-year-old daughter Nora June. Laura also has 3 beautiful grandchildren who will greatly miss her; Brantley, Mia, and Haevyn Myers, all of South Carolina. She will be greatly missed by Christina Witzler and husband Joeseph of West Virginia, and their children, Mason and Jeremy Witzler. 

Laura was exceptional at her profession as a Loan underwriter for Homebridge. Laura loved snuggling with her children, spending time with family and friends, walking on the beach, listening to 80's music and was always ready for an adventure.  

Laura Lynn Nelson was the air in the room, the light in the darkness, and the beauty in the storm. She was truly one of a kind, with the most Infectious laugh. To be called her friend or to be considered her family was truly a gift to us all. We will miss you. Till we meet again!

A funeral service will begin at 7 p.m., Friday, August 27, 2021, at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, P.A., 136 East Baltimore Street, Taneytown, MD 21787. The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 7 p.m., Friday, August 27, 2021.
