Lois Ann (Hitchcock) Smith

     Lois Ann Smith, 89, passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Gettysburg Hospital. Born on November 26, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Fern Hitchcock, Sr., and Lena Angel Hitchcock. She was predeceased by her husband, Levern Ellworth Smith.

     Lois was a homemaker. She enjoyed traveling, reading, playing cards with her friends, and spending time with her family. She was also a lifetime member of the Messiah United Methodist Church in Taneytown, with whom she dedicated a lot her time and enjoyed attending prayer group. She was also a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary Hesson-Snyder Post 120, where she also volunteered much of her time.

     Lois is survived by her three children, sons Brian Hitchcock Smith and wife Patty, Larry Wayne Smith and wife Mary, all of Littlestown, PA; daughter Wendy Ann Snyder and husband Roland, of Taneytown; grandchildren Lea Kitzmiller, Kara Glass, Troy Smith, Ian Smith, and Taylor Snyder; and great grandchildren, Miles Glass and Nova Smith-Jablon. In addition to her parents and husband, Lois was preceded in death by her siblings, brother Fern Hitchcock, Jr., and sister Alice Y. Routsong.

     The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 136 East Baltimore Street, Taneytown, MD (21787). A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at the Messiah United Methodist Church, 20 Middle Street, Taneytown, MD (21787), with Reverend Richard Baker officiating.

     In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made in Lois’ name to the Messiah United Methodist Church in Taneytown, where Lois was a lifetime member.
