Michael Curtiss Hickey, Sr.

     Michael Curtiss Hickey, Sr., died on Friday, October 29, 2021, at the BridgingLife Hospice Dove House, surrounded by his family. Born on January 8, 1955, Michael was the son of the late Dale Hickey and Shirley Hickey Ruth. He was also the husband of the late Loretta Hickey. Michael leaves behind a son, Michael Hickey, Jr., and grandson, Asher Hickey.

     Michael joined the United States Navy right out of high school, later joining Flowserve as a machinist, where he worked for 30 years. He enjoyed cooking, gardening and growing sunflowers, fishing, camping, and traveling, especially to the beach. He was upbeat and positive, had a good sense of humor and was known for his weather reports on Facebook.

     In addition to his son and grandson, Michael is survived by his sister, Cindy Colbert and husband Butch, of Surf City, NC; and niece, Amanda Miller and husband Phil, also of Surf City, NC. He will be missed by all who loved him.

     A memorial service will begin at 7 p.m., Thursday, November 4, 2021, at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 East Baltimore Street, Taneytown, MD 21787 with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr., officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be private.
