Norman Armolt, USN, Ret. Obituary

Norman Richard Armolt, USN Ret., 82, of Westminster, Maryland died on Friday, October 23, 2020 at his home.

Born on August 2, 1938 in Garrett County, Maryland, he was the son of the late William Andrew and Annie (Hoopengarner) Armolt.  He was the husband of the late Sandra Virginia (Finding) Armolt, who predeceased him in 1993.

Norman was retired from the U.S. Navy in 1980 as a Chief Petty Officer.  He then worked for Titan Corporation as a U.S. government contract supervisor until his retirement in 2001.  He was a member of the Masonic Order.  He was a great bowler, roller skater, and jokester, who enjoyed making people laugh.  Norman will be missed by all who knew and loved him. 

Surviving are children, Doris Riggleman of Westernport, MD, Linda Likens and husband Randy of Keyser, W.VA., Ricky Cooper and wife Cindy of Chattanooga, TN, and Annette Armolt of Westminster, MD; grandchildren, Matthew and Andrew Armolt, Alexia Armolt Marston and wife Mollee; and 9 other grandchildren; great-grandson, Matthew Armolt, Jr., and many other great-grandchildren; special nieces, Ada Sturgill and husband Robert and Joyce Mickley and husband Greg both of Glen Burnie, MD; and many other nieces and nephews.  He was the last surviving of his 11 siblings.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Rocky Gap Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 14205 Pleasant Valley Rd NE, Flintstone, MD 21530.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Westminster.
