Ralph Amrein III Obituary

Ralph Henry Amrein III passed away on March 4, 2023, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia. He was born on February 14, 1951, in Baltimore, Maryland, and was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Henry Amrein Jr and Thelma Amrein (née. Bunting).

Ralph enjoyed his years growing up in the Pimlico area before moving to Woodlawn. He graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1969 and loved reminiscing about his time at Woodlawn. Ralph earned nine varsity letters in football, lacrosse, and wrestling. Additionally, he was selected as an all-Baltimore County lineman. Ralph continued his love for wrestling by becoming a mentor to area junior and high school wrestlers. Ralph even supported many young wrestlers by paying their way to go to wrestling camp. He loved encouraging and advising these youth.

After graduating high school, Ralph became a Maryland State Police Cadet and later a Maryland State Trooper. After his tenure as a Police Officer, he established himself as a very successful real estate appraiser; Ralph loved this career.

Ralph was one of the original co-owners of Triangle Fitness located in Eldersburg, MD; he helped run it for more than ten years. He loved working out and weightlifting. Ralph enjoyed music and especially listening to the Moody Blues, and he was an avid Beatles fan. He loved cheering on the Orioles and Ravens. Ralph also loved watching the TV show Vikings. He watched all six seasons and considered King Ragnar his alter ego!

Survivors include his sisters Karen Marsh (Scott) and Kathy Elgert. Ralph is also survived by his nephew Michael Palmer (Lindsay) and his nieces Meg Whitfield and Kayla Elgert; his great-niece Peyton Palmer and three great-nephews, Liam Whitfield, Colin Whitfield, Logan Palmer and Ralph’s Uncle, Thomas Amrein (Linda). Ralph appreciated friends and maintained decades-long friendships with fellow Woodlawn graduates and friends he met along the way.
