Obituary

Richard Burnell Warner, 92, of Westminster, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at the BridgingLife Dove House Hospice Center in Westminster. Born January 8, 1931, he was the son of the late Paul Warner and Anna Warner, nee Schnauble. He was the loving husband to the late Betty Lee Warner, nee Stoner. They married in 1952, she was the love of his life.

He graduated from Westminster High School in 1948. He also graduated in 1953 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Western Maryland College. He was in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman during the Korean War, stationed on the USS Consolation Hospital Ship. After discharging from the Navy, he was employed by Westminster Nurseries for 41 years. He was an innovative cook, a student of history, a vegetable gardener, loved cars, and enjoyed traveling to the islands and Europe, which he did many times. He was known for being very generous and witty.

Surviving are his beloved children, Susan C. Warner, Richard B. Warner, Jr. and wife Donna, Diane G. Hobson and husband Andrew, and Jeanne M. Orndorff and husband Victor; grandchildren, Angela Warner, Kaitlyn Warner, Leigh Hobson, Katy Hobson, Annie Hobson, Anne Marie Cook, and Paul Orndorff; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Noah; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Shipley.

The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 91 Willis Street, Westminster, Maryland 21157, and again on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 10 – 11 am, which a Memorial Service will begin at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s name to, BridgingLife Dove House Hospice Center, c/o Development Office, 200 Memorial Avenue, Westminster, Maryland 21157, or to the American Legion Westminster Post 31, 2 Sycamore Street, Westminster, Maryland 21157.
