Sister Cynthia Fox, age 71, died at Villa St. Michael in Emmitsburg, Maryland on November 6, 2023.

She was born July 26, 1952 at Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, North Carolina to Delia Ann (Wain) Fox and David Lee Fox. Before entering the Community, Sister Cynthia was a member of St. Michael Church (Overlea) in Baltimore, Maryland. She graduated from Seton High School in 1970 and entered the Daughters of Charity on April 6, 1972. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education in 1977 from College of Notre Dame of Maryland in Baltimore and her Master of Science Degree in Computer Science in 1988 from the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio.

Following initial formation, Sister Cynthia was missioned as a teacher in the following elementary schools: St. Charles School in Pikesville, Maryland, St. Mary’s School in Rome Georgia, Portsmouth Catholic Elementary School in Portsmouth, Virginia, St. Patrick School in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and St. Joseph School in Martinsburg, West Virginia. In 1990, she was then missioned to Petersburg, Virginia at St. Vincent de Paul High School as a teacher and Assistant Administrator. Her next mission was teaching Computer Science at Elizabeth Seton High School in Bladensburg, Maryland. Sister Cynthia then used her computer skills in Information Services at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Providence Hospital in Washington, D. C., Mother Seton Academy, Caroline Center and Seton Keough High School all in Baltimore. Her next mission was to Emmitsburg where Sister Cynthia ministered in the office and as a computer assistant at Seton Center and later as a tutor at Mother Seton School. In 2014, she was missioned to Villa St. Michael for the Ministry of Prayer, a ministry she held until her death.

Sister Cynthia was preceded in death by her father and her brother, Kenneth Fox. She is survived by her mother, Delia Ann Fox, sisters, Catherine Bacastow and Patricia Chaney, nieces, nephews and her Sisters in Community.

A Wake Service will be held on Thursday, November 9 at 4:00 pm in the Villa Chapel in Emmitsburg. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Friday, November 10 also in the Villa Chapel. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery on the grounds.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sister Cynthia’s name to the Daughters of Charity, 4330 Olive Street, Saint Louis, Missouri, 63108.
