We will all miss you. When Daniel read of the passing and knocked him for a loop. He fondly remembers Dougie coming into Schaeffer Lumber Co and always laughing and in great spirits. The rest of the family will always remember the laughing and great easy going attitude. You always brought a smile to the family. You will be messed deeply. To the Menchey family. our thoughts and prayers to you all.

Dougie, you were such a kind gentle soul. I looked forward to your visits at school, always greeted by a "hey there Cuz". No matter what was happening, you made time to see me. You always asked about everyone else and cared so deeply about others. You lit up the room and I certainly enjoyed laughing with you about the craziness of life. I am deeply saddened by your passing, but know the heavens gained a beautiful, loving angel. Rest in peace Dougie!!! Gone too soon, but loved so very much!! Xoxoxo

I am shocked and extremely sad to hear this news via the link with the world... the internet. I remember his great smile, gentle nature and comfort only a little over a year ago at my sister's funeral. We talked about him coming to Australia to help build a house for me and my husband. He is the only person I would trust outside of his dad... Miss you Dougie... say hi to Dad, Mom and Tammy for me. Love, Heidy

We've been next door neighbors to Doug for more than 20 years. I can't count all the favors he has done for us, always willingly and cheerfully, never expecting anything in return. We always knew we could count on Doug for help. We're shocked and saddened by his untimely passing and we extend our sincere sympathy to Laurie and all his family. We'll miss you, Doug. Rest in eternal peace.

My heart sunk as I read Doug has passed away. We were friends at WHS Class of 71. My sincere condolences go out to his family and friends. We are truly saddened at this lost of our friend.

Dougie, as we knew him, was a great friend and helped us a lot at our house. We loved joking around with him and laughing a lot. He will be missed by us and many other people. Sorry for your loss and our prayers are with you.
