Jane Adelaide Orndorff, 89, of Emmitsburg, MD, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Ministries in Emmitsburg. Born May 1, 1928, in Taneytown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Ruth (Sanders) Baker. She was predeceased by her husband, G. Louis Orndorff, in 1993.
Jane was employed as a Nurse’s Aide at Villa of St. Michael in Emmitsburg for 17 years. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, watching game shows, and attending family get-togethers. She had a sense of humor that wouldn’t quit.
She is survived by a son, Michael Orndorff and wife, Lynn, of Emmitsburg; daughters, Gloria Maddox and husband John of Littlestown, PA, and Lisa Finneyfrock and husband Roger of Rocky Ridge; a brother, Charles Baker, Capt., USN Retired and wife Mary Anne, of Finksburg; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased a brother, Guy Baker Jr., sisters, Kay Peters and Frances Keilholtz; and great-great-granddaughter, Ella Little. Jane’s family wishes to thank the nurses, aides, and staff of both St. Joseph’s Ministries and Hospice of Frederick County for the kind, competent, and compassionate care they provided.
The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 47 DePaul St., Emmitsburg, MD, with the Rev. Charles F. Krieg, C.M. as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at New St. Joseph Cemetery.
