Patty - I think you know the story of how key Royal's presence was in my life at a very important time for my faith formation. He and a prof from Houghton were used by God to "connect some dots" for me. It wasn't that Royal was trying to be noble - he was just living his faith life, and that was what I needed at the time.
You both were very important to us as we took the reins of Seaway YFC ministry in 1983. Thanks so much!
We are currently out of country or we would make every effort to be with you for the service. Hopefully we can be there for the Northern NY service in the summer.

My childhood is wrapped in wonderful memories and some of my fondest include you all. Pastor Matton was a gentle giant who lived out what he believed. Thanks so much for sharing him, the world is definitely a better place because he was a part of it.

There are truly exceptional people who come into our life’s who we really enjoy knowing. We met Royal and Pat in 2009 when our son, Joe and Lisa became engaged. We found him to be easy to converse with, his easy manner, and with an enjoyable dry sense of humor. We enjoyed our many get togethers with him, and got a kick out of his great liking for hamburgers and apple raisin pie. We’re sorry we did not get to know him longer, and hear one of his sermons. We’ll miss him, but know he is at peace with Jesus, where we hope to meet up again with him. Our continued Love, prayers and spiritual hugs to Pat and family!

Patty, Beth, Lisa, Rebecca and families...we are so sorry for your (and our) loss! We know Royal is rejoicing with Jesus (I can almost see him setting off the fireworks to celebrate!), but it will be hard to fill that void he leaves in this world.
