Craig John Herwig, 58, of Taneytown, died on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.

Born January 20, 1959 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Raymond H. and Elaine A. (Grubert) Herwig and Virginia M. Herwig of Parkville.

Craig loved and adored time with his son Tyler.  He retired from the Baltimore County Police Department in 1992.  Since that time he worked as a private investigator for Maryland Claims Investigation.  He was an avid golfer.

Surviving in addition to his mother are son, Tyler M. Herwig; siblings, Raymond H. Herwig, Jr. and wife Christy of Perryville, Diane C. Greer of Baltimore, Edwin P. Hanson and wife Joan of Austin, TX, Jeffrey C. Herwig and wife Michele of Dayton, and Gary S. Herwig and wife Patty of Baltimore; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael and Patty Hennessie of Columbia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Columbia Presbyterian Church, 10001 Rt. 108, Columbia, MD with Pastor Randy Lovelace officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Westminster.
