Roy William Georg, 91, of Taneytown, MD, died peacefully on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Lorien Assisted Living in Taneytown. Born July 6, 1926 in Salisbury, PA, he was the son of the late Paul and Orpha (Krause) Georg. He was the husband of the late Alma (Meyer) Georg.

Roy was a graduate of Westminster High School, class of 1943 and was a veteran of the National Guard. He was a landscape contractor and owner/operator of Roy W. Georg, Inc., retiring in 1991. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taneytown and the Maryland Farm Bureau.  Roy also loved playing the game of golf.

Surviving are daughter Karen Sirian and husband Bob, of Taneytown; grandchildren, Albert Quillin, III of Westminster, Andrew Quillin of Oceanside, California, and Kelly Swain of Taneytown; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Maya Swain, and Violet Quillin; brother, Walter Georg, of Baltimore. He is predeceased by brothers, Robert “Dale” Georg, James Georg; and sisters, Martha Williams, and Helen Morrison.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 25, 2017 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 38 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown with Rev. Cristopher Frigm officiating.  Burial will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church.
